One of the Council's most important functions is to set out a spatial strategy for development that can take place across the Borough – in short, setting out what can be built where in terms of housing, employment land and infrastructure and what protections are in place.

This is a hugely complex process and for those councillors interested in Planning Policy, there is a working group that feeds into the Local Plan. Details of the Local Plan – including all the supporting evidence – is available here: New Borough Local Plan (tunbridgewells.gov.uk).

The Council is also in the process of putting together a Town Centre Action Plan for Royal Tunbridge Wells and it also supports parish and town councils in the production of Neighbourhood Development Plans.
